Overview
NestBank’s microfinance model was built around centre meetings, peer accountability and personal relationships, but as the organisation grew, essential services such as loan applications, repayments, approvals and member support became increasingly dependent on manual administration. The opportunity was to make these services more accessible and scalable without losing the trust, transparency and sense of community that differentiated the programme.

NestBank’s microfinance model was built around centre meetings, peer accountability and personal relationships, but as the organisation grew, essential services such as loan applications, repayments, approvals and member support became increasingly dependent on manual administration. The opportunity was to make these services more accessible and scalable without losing the trust, transparency and sense of community that differentiated the programme.
Solution
We transformed NestBank’s lending and account management processes into a self-service mobile experience, giving members greater visibility and control over their loans, repayments, approvals, balances and account information. Rather than replicating a traditional banking app, the experience was designed around NestBank’s community-led model, supported by a new visual language and scalable design system that gave the product a distinctive foundation for growth.

Final Results
The platform achieved 97% member registration, with 111,000+ members actively using the experience and 85% of loan activity processed and approved digitally. More than 1.16 million loans were successfully disbursed through the platform, while a 4.9-star average App Store rating reflected strong member reception following launch.
